Barkers Ridge Swim Team or BRST provides our youth with a community-based, family-oriented recreational, yet competitive swim team experience, to further educate children and parents in competitive swimming, by providing a positive enjoyable environment. We entrench good sportsmanship and encourage each swimmer to achieve his/her highest individual potential. We are looking for a few people who have a calling to get further involved with the workings of our swim team. As many of you know several members of our board have been working with the team in some form or fashion for several years and it is now time to start passing the torch. In a single season the team requires at least 6 board members to run the daily functions with most positions starting in February attending a monthly meeting, while the actual work does not start until the team starts swimming. We cannot function at levels we currently are expected to without the recruitment of new people. We realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints and so we have tried to provide many new and different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible. Please review the volunteer opportunities suggested below, and email me with any you are interested in. Your support is very important to the team as it allows us to keep registration cost low for our families. BRST hosts two home meets and has four away meets (includes MOC & All Stars) each season. Each team represents between approximately 100 to 200 swimmers and their families. This accompanied with our fantastic community and far reaching word of mouth will give you and your business a large amount of public display within the West Houston and Katy area.
